BIKINI PREP | 8 & 11 WEEKS OUT

Welcome back! This week started out pretty slow and boring but, no worries, it got VERY exciting! Enjoy!

8 & 11 Weeks Out

This week started out a little slower than last week. My flame is still lit and I’m still ready to crush this prep but last weekend literally exhausted me, mentally and physically. My sleep schedule has been so out of whack here lately and I really need to get that together. Sleep is SO important for your health!!

Diet:

You know how I said this is the difficult part? Well, it is but I am proud to say that I stayed so on track with my meals this week! I didn’t have a single “cheat” Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday! I know that’s what I’m SUPPOSED to do, but in all honesty it’s rare that I don’t have at least a small bag of pretzels or one of those miniature candy bars. Something I’ve noticed is that the prime time I want to snack is right after a meal. It’s like I’m just not fully satisfied! What I’ve also noticed is that this only lasts about an hour so if I can just push through that then I’m fine. One of my goals this time around was to be much more self-disciplined when it came to food so that’s what I’m trying to do! I’m still drinking a gallon of water daily and at this point, that’s just a normal part of my day! I keep two big bottles at my desk all day so I don’t have to continuously get up and refill! Normally, I adjust my macros on Saturdays but this week I started my new macros on Monday. This week I was eating about 1500 calories a day still at the same macro percentages. To say the least, I’m a little hungry!

Post-Workout Meal

Training/Cardio:

I’m not one to do abs often because I don’t find ab exercises very enjoyable BUT I have started making them a priority again. I try to do two exercises a day (one hitting obliques and one to hit just my abs) and I like to throw them in between my strength exercises. I trained all legs on Monday and my quads were actually sore the next day!! (This never happens) And on Tuesday (shoulder day) I did 204 lateral raises so basically I wasn’t able to lift my arms for two days. I’m really focusing on trying to limit my rest time between sets for two reasons: to get my lift finished faster and to keep my heart rate up!

And speaking of keeping my heart rate up, let’s talk about cardio! My goal was to be more consistent and I did so well this week! I will mention, though, that I really wanted to do 15 minutes a day but I had a couple days where I simply didn’t have time and I only did 10. On those days, I tried to keep my heart rate a little higher so essentially I was still burning the same amount of calories. What do y’all like to use to track HR? I finally got an Apple Watch a couple of months ago and now I don’t think I could live without it!

Supplementaion:

My supplementation stayed the exact same this week. Before I add anything else to the mix, I want to be more consistent on my food and cardio and let my body take it’s course. Once I feel as if I have “plateaued” then I may consider throwing in a couple other things.

Life:

I had another week where I was way too busy to meal prep. In fact, I didn’t even go to the grocery until Monday night. Tuesday morning I made enough for my lunches for the week but I had to prepare all my dinners Wednesday after work. Waking up late Wednesday reminded me that I seriously need to take meal prepping more seriously because I had to leave my kitchen in shambles to get to work on time.

Right now I have two friends of mine that were my very first clients who are killing it! Both of them came to me with the goal of losing about 20 pounds. Most of the time when us humans make decisions, we do it for a reason. When I got back into the gym, it was for a reason: I didn’t want to look bad next to my fiancé. When I chose to compete in a bikini competition, it was for a reason: I wanted something bigger to strive for, an actual goal, rather than just lifting for fun. When I chose to start extending my knowledge of fitness to others, it was for a reason: I want to be the person behind the scenes who helps make someone love themselves again, or for the first time. On Wednesday, one of my girls came up to me and told me the shirt she was wearing has been in her closet for A YEAR and she’s finally comfortable enough to wear it. Wanna know what she’s doing? Using My Fitness Pal to track her macros, eating MORE than she was before working with me, and only going to the gym 3 days a week. In 4 weeks, she has lost 11 lbs! My other friend, also making great progress, has lost a little over 6 lbs! Both of these women came to me wanting to feel better and love themselves again and they are well on their way to doing so. And that right there, folks, is what continues to drive my passion!!

So, anyways, just when I thought I was going to have a boring week and weekend, things turned around. I had the scariest encounter of my life, to date. Driving home, WITH my daughter, I hit a tree that was laying in the middle of the road and totaled my car. Ok so you’re probably thinking “how the hell did you not see a tree?!” right? Because me too. I felt so stupid and so guilty… until 4 other people hit the same tree! So let me explain… it was dark outside, a foggy night, on an unlit road, where the speed limit is 55 mph. At that speed, I had no time to even think about stopping my vehicle. I had enough time to squint my eyes and think “wtf?!” then BAM into the tree we go. I know it seems like I’m joking and laughing about the situation because I am. We are alive and well now and that is what’s really important. What really sucks is that I now have to buy a new car! But in all seriousness, it could have been so much worse and I am just so happy to still be be here today and to still have my sweet baby girl. CAR SEAT SAFETY Y'ALL! Those things can save lives.

2-7-2019

I intended on having a super relaxing weekend, however, that wasn't really the case. I did spend most of the weekend at home with my family, though, and that's my favorite thing to do! Fiance and I went to look at some cars Saturday during the day and went to see The Escape Room afterwards. It will definitely make me think twice before ever doing another escape room, haha! This week, Aria goes to preschool for the first time ☹ I have been so blessed to have people that love her dearly who are able to watch her during the week so she has NEVER been to daycare. My little girl BEGS me to go to school and my mom really thinks she’s ready so she offered to pay for it (how sweet?)! I am probably going to BAWL my eyes out when I drop her off. BUT, it’s only once a week for 2.5 hours and I really think she’s gonna love it! Stay tuned next week to see a picture of my little cutie pie on her first day of school, ever (and to find out how momma handles it haha).

My goals for this week are, again, being more consistent with my cardio and to get to bed by 10 every night!

Please subsribe, like, and share and be sure to comment below whatcha think or any questions! Also, I’m thinking of having a separate blog that’s main focus isn’t competing/fitness. I would love your input on what topics you guys would like to read about! See ya again next week!

Xoxo
